NauticLog enables sailors to keep their logbook on iPhones or iPads in accordance to the basic principles of log integrity. It simultaneously generates a personal diary including photographs, texts and descriptions. All data are saved on your device offline .
You make all your entries in the entry list, not immediately in the log book and you can scroll, edit or delete existing entries, add entries by tapping (+) or insert entries by tapping on the line above). Navigation entries, weather forecasts, daily checks and ships data are structured in modules so that suitable modules can be chosen as required. You can add individual text, photos, maps and routes; these entries can be marked as private, which means they wont appear in the official logbook.
Any changes, insertions or deletions of entries will be registered, and depending on the general program settings, marked in the official logbook as in a notepad, whereas the diary will not show this. The logbook can be printed out or sent as email, the diary can be printed with all your stories, photos, maps and routes.
Downloading maps requires authorization of GPS positioning and internet connection; nevertheless without internet connection the current GPS coordinates will be saved and the maps may be downloaded later, if internet connection is available and the entry is selected again.
All manually taken GPS-coordinates are connected as a route. There is no permanent tracking implemented, to minimize battery and internet volume consumption.
